Opening 2 minutes - 50\50 (2011)

Film analysis 50/50

50/50 Poster

Mandate Pictures

Seth Rogen

Joseph Gordon Levitt

The film starts with a cut in shot of an ipod, then a close up of a man jogging then it changes on to a tracking shot that changes from mid shot to wide shot , then a wide shot. then these wide shots change location and we see the man running towards the camera and every time  he gets closer it changes scenary. Then the man stops to cross the road and he is jogging on the spot because the pedestrian crossing light is RED, but then another person storms past him and runs across the road because the roads are empty and it is safe to cross, this main charecter knows this but he chooses to not take the risk and waits until the light changes to green and the music in the background comes on back on and this indacates that the sound is non - diegetic because it comes across as mood music because he stoped when he saw that the light was RED and at the same time the happy mood music went off indicating there is something wrong. Then another person sprints past him leaving him behind and he chooses not to cross the road until the light is GREEN, and when it turns green he crosses and the music comes back ON, I think its non diegetic sound because of this interval in the music and because the opening titles are still coming up on the screen.
As the man comes to the middle of the road we see a mid shot of him touching his back as if he is releaving some sort of pain then he hops looks around and carrys on running as if it hadn't bothered him and the film is edited and we see a mid close up of him in the shower looking upset and we can hear the same music reminding us that it is non -diegetic because we can also hear the shower water drops.
